Word Viewer 2003 enables you to view, print and copy documents in the following formats without having the corresponding editing software installed:
• Word Document (*.docx)
• Word Macro-Enabled Document (*.docm)
• Rich Text Format (.rtf)
• Text (.txt)
• Web Page formats (.htm, .html, .mht, .mhtml)
• WordPerfect 5.x (.wpd)
• WordPerfect 6.x (.doc, .wpd)
• Works 6.0 (.wps)
• Works 7.0 (.wps)
• XML (.xml)
With this software, you cannot edit an open document, save a document, or create a new document.
This software can be downloaded for free use, so you can use it for the processes it enables without having to buy a license. For enterprise use, you can save money by having a few licenses with editing ability and many viewers for the remaining needed processes.
If you don’t have Microsoft Word installed on your PC, you can use Word Viewer to view any Word document of your interest found on the Internet.
Compatibility
You can open documents created using Microsoft Office Word 2003, 2002, or 2000. You can also read documents created with Office Word 2007, but, in this case, you need to download the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats in addition to Word Viewer; this is because Microsoft Office 2007 uses new file formats:
• Microsoft Office Word 2007 Document (*.docx)
• Microsoft Office Word 2007 Macro-Enabled Document (*.docm)
When using this software to view these file formats, you will see a Word 2003 version of the documents; all those features and layouts not contained in Word 2003 won’t be seen.

• The document can be zoomed in or out (see the screenshot added)
• You can search text or go to a specific location: page, section, line, bookmark, footnote, endnote, field, graphic, object, etc. (see the screenshots included in this review).
• There are quite a lot of options for printing the document, you can print the whole document, current page, a range of pages, odd pages, even pages, reverse mode, etc (see the screenshots). |
